Kirsty Connell

Kirsty has been a board member of Unity Theatre since 2013.

She has over fifteen years’ experience of working on public/private sector initiatives involving multiple stakeholders, including those from the arts, education and business sectors as well as those from diverse communities.

As a key member of the team for Liverpool’s European Capital of Culture programme, Kirsty delivered a major business engagement programme, ensuring businesses within the visitor economy were fully aware of the both the opportunities and demands Capital of Culture would bring.

Other significant projects Kirsty has led include assembling the funding package for the £2 million street theatre epic “Sea Odyssey”, overseeing Liverpool’s £5.3million events based ERDF programme and the outsourcing of the Liverpool City Council owned Epstein Theatre, she also managed LABGI funding for community partners and arts providers.

She was cultural lead on Leicester’s bid to be UK City of Culture 2017, working with a range of both high profile and smaller scale arts organisations to identify a narrative theme that could encapsulate and articulate the proposed content. In partnership with stakeholders, she created programmes of work that would meet the economic and social needs of the bid objectives.

She has spoken at, facilitated and organised a range of events including neighbourhood and community committees, business networks, cultural and educational institutions, cultural sector groups, conferences and market testing workshops with audiences up to 300. She is also an experienced bid writer, with a strong attention to detail and has contributed to many bids including those for World Cup and UNESCO City of Music and has delivered several successful Arts Council bids.
