Hans Christian Andersen's
The Emperor's New Clothes
Tuesday 2 December 2008 to Saturday 17 January 2009
The Emperor's New Clothes, continues unity’s 21 year passion for traditional stories told in an untraditional way and follows the success of Pinocchio and The Tinder Box.
Emperor Bling is a proud and wealthy man but he hasn't got a thing to wear! In his huge palace he has a huge walk in wardrobe full of the finest clothes, he has new clothes every day, in fact he cares more for his clothes than he does his citizens.
His fashion fixation has created a wool shortage so he's raised the sheep shearing tax. The townsfolk are up in arms and he's beginning to get the feeling they don't like him. Even his sweetheart is tiring of his vanity.
In a bid to win them all round he hires two dodgy taylors, Wicked and Wicked, who promise him the finest suit of clothes from the most beautiful cloth.
Will his new threads be bling enough to dazzle them?
Will Wicked and Wicked prove to be a pair of conmen?
Will the audience see right through Emperor Bling's Charms?
Liverpool’s Patrick Dineen, who composed and arranged the score for Liverpool's 2008 Capital of Culture launch on St George's plateau directs and provides the music for this sure fire Christmas treat. The Cast Includes Aiden Lee Brooks and Graham Geoffrey from Random Acts of Wildness who have both appeared in previous unity Christmas shows.

Big Wow in association with Richard Jordan Productions Ltd
dark grumblings
very strange, very fast and very funny
Thursday 8 to Saturday 17 January
Big Wow return with the sell-out show that launched the Unity’s 08 programme. A tower block wheremost of the residents have shipped out before the property developers move in. A couple of security guards working the night shift. A mysterious television channel.
Blatantly influenced by the genre of Japanese horror, Dark Grumblings is a very silly, but, at times, genuinely scary experience.
Big Wow were winners of Best New Comedy Play Edinburgh 2006 with Insomnobabble, and we’d love to be able to tell you we’d had another huge Festival success, and sold loads of tickets, and got tons of great reviews, and picked up a few awards along the way, but we can’t as we’re writing this in the middle of June.
Very fast, very funny, and very strange. Daily Post
Shows you what theatre can do that no other medium can ... Comic genius. The Stage
Firmly in the Shaun of the Dead corner Liverpool Echo
Be warned. Book early.
