Mothers Who Make - Unity Theatre

Mothers Who Make is a growing national initiative aimed at supporting mothers who are artists – professional and/or passionate. Every kind of maker is welcomed, and every kind of mother.

Through it’s first three years, the Liverpool Hub has provided creative mothers with the chance to share ideas, develop projects, work together and forge bonds in both practice and motherhood.

Most recently the community of mothers from the Liverpool Hub featured in their first public exhibition. Coordinated by Tmesis Theatre, new makers and mothers are welcome to join each month.

A word from Hub Co-ordinator Claire Bigley

I have been working within the arts sector since 1997 and spent 15 years working within Arts Development, notably part of the team who successfully had The Brindley built in Runcorn, resulting in becoming Principal Arts Officer for Halton.

It was during this time I become a Mum and made the decision to leave my full-time role and go back to freelance work. This was the BEST decision for me and my boy…giving me more independence, flexibility and allows me to manage my work/ life balance.

I have made creative things happen in many different contexts; community settings, libraries, venues, outdoors, schools, hospitals, prisons…it’s who I am, makes me tick, and I can’t imagine ever doing anything else!

What I enjoy most is working with people to explore their creativity, to develop their practice and navigate their long-term development and resilience.

I look forward to meeting you and developing MWM Liverpool together!
