Mothers Who Make Liverpool

Mothers who Make is a grass roots, national initiative, dedicated to supporting women who hold roles of both mother and artist, who care about both and do not want to compromise on either.

Every kind of maker is welcome - professional and/or passionate –in any discipline and at any stage on their creative paths - writers, painters, performers, film makers, dancers, producers, musicians, crafters… Every kind of mother is welcome - biological, adoptive, step, surrogate, foster, bereaved, grand, great grand, to be ….

Children of any age are encouraged to attend too and are integrated into the meeting, for the dual roles of mother and artist are recognised and given equal value within all MWM events.

We want our MWM hub to develop with you and provide a supportive, creative space in a number of ways; to connect, share, network and participate. We want it to be grown with and by you.

Claire Bigley

Meet you Hub Co-ordinator Claire Bigley

I have been working within the arts sector since 1997 and spent 15 years working within Arts Development, notably part of the team who successfully had The Brindley built in Runcorn, resulting in becoming Principal Arts Officer for Halton.

It was during this time I become a Mum and made the decision to leave my full-time role and go back to freelance work. This was the BEST decision for me and my boy…giving me more independence, flexibility and allows me to manage my work/ life balance.

I have made creative things happen in many different contexts; community settings, libraries, venues, outdoors, schools, hospitals, prisons…it’s who I am, makes me tick, and I can’t imagine ever doing anything else!

What I enjoy most is working with people to explore their creativity, to develop their practice and navigate their long-term development and resilience.

I look forward to meeting you and developing MWM Liverpool together!

A note about pre-booking. The listing is set up for booking with a range of donation amounts starting from £2, however we don’t want money to be a reason for someone not to come.

If the donation amount is preventing you from attending, please get in touch with me directly: louiseflooks(at)unitytheatre.co.uk and your query will be kept confidential.
