Part of the Unity Open Call Programme 2022
BLIP! Is an immersive, artful cabaret spotlighting artists and performers from Asian backgrounds to celebrate and share our stories with everyone. It is a segment of the Asian experience in the UK through the lens of artists and performers.
As Liverpool has the oldest Chinese community in Europe, it is important to acknowledge the legacy of this by expressing our voices and sharing this with the rest of the city and beyond.
We are the children of British Imperialism and we are here to share our rich cultures and artistry.
About The Artist:
Dan Chan (they/them) is a Liverpool based visual and drag artist. Their work takes a playful approach to explore their identity by re-appropriating racial, queer and gender stereotypes. This is with the subtlety of colour in visual works and more explicitly through drag performances. Through this, they create safe spaces for marginalised people to connect. A main aspect of their work is creating representation they never saw growing up for queer British Asian youth.
