Imaginary Starscape Illustration: Creative’Pool
Saturday 16th November
10:30am – 12:00pm
Children’s book illustrator, Gill Smith invites young artists of all abilities and their families to fly skyward into the world of their imaginations. She will reveal the techniques for her illustrations in A Way To The Stars, a picture book written by the wonderful writer, David Almond. Like the characters in the book, you can create your own magical starscape, using exciting materials such as watercolour, marbling inks, stencils and collage. It might get messy – but getting messy is the way we get to the stars, so be sure to wear your oldest clothes! This is a neuro divergent friendly workshop and children are invited to create together with their adults. Please let us know in advance if there are additional needs we can better accomodate.
Supported by Art Friends Merseyside
Praise for Smith:
‘With illustrations that find sweetness in sadness, this touching picture book is the resonant story of refugee siblings who have lost everything but each other’. – The Sunday Times (Saving the Butterfly- Helen Cooper- illustrated by Gill Smith
