Kahlo Explores the rich , revolutionary and colourful life of Frida Kahlo
Mixing fantasy and reality, this devised work dares to examine Kahlo’s heritage; interrogating race, identity, femininity and sexuality. Disclosing the aftermath of her fateful accident as a child, its influence and impact on the artist, Kahlo interweaves politics and creativity, feminist and LGBTQ+ movements, communism, iconography and the power of individuality.
A celebration of an extraordinary life, questioning the commodification of the artist and art itself, the workshop production presents the portrait of an equally extraordinary woman, as vibrant, multi-layered and disarming as the artworks she bequeathed.
Performed by third year Acting students.
