Knight’s Dream is a new musical inspired by Shakespeare’s A Midsummer Night’s Dream, reimagining the classic tale in a modern setting. Oscar Pendragon, an ambitious entrepreneur, has opened his new bar—Knight’s Dream—with his exasperated fiancée, Tulisa, whose patience is thin. Things take a turn when four young customers get caught up in the illicit ‘Love Drug.’ The complicated love triangle takes an unexpected twist, flipping the characters’ relationships upside down. All the while, the mischievous bartender, a modern day Puck, orchestrates the chaos from the sidelines with a knowing smirk. With an original score blending pop, jazz, and inspiration from Fred Ebb and modern hits like Heathers, Knight’s Dream is a dark comedy that stays true to Shakespeare’s themes of love, betrayal, and the absurd, peppering in references to the original work. It’s a new take on a beloved classic that comments on the modern issue of drink spiking.
