The Sand Dog Cometh

The Sand Dog Cometh

Wed 14 October 2015

Drama/Comedy/Physical Theatre

Inspired by 'high' and 'low' culture, the 70’s, unintelligible academic language, classic crooners, Rihanna, musicals, Scouse female fashions, dereliction and shopping centres, The Sand Dog Cometh offers: Virtuosity? Intellectual stimulation? Distraction? Provocation? Catharsis?

Dear Audience: What is it you care about?

A multi-disciplinary solo homage to the avante-garde, to kitsch, shtick, snobbery, trash and easy laughs.

Written, directed, and performed by Mary Pearson (USA/UK)
Visual collaboration with Sophie Malmberg (DK/Berlin)

Developed in stages at Ponderosa Tanzland Festival and Con|VERGE residency (Germany) 2013, in residency at the Bike Shed Theatre (Exeter) with Jamie Wood, and at Physical Fest 2014 (Liverpool). Physical research took place as a 'Making Space' artist-in-residence at Decoda’s Summer Dancing Festival 2014 (Coventry).
