The Mysteries: The Nativity

21 November-23 November

Various

Lucifer and the Angel Gabriel, Adam and Eve, Cain, Abel, Noah and – of course – God. All gather for the beginning of the world, to tell the story of Mary and Joseph, of good and evil.

The Nativity is the first part of Tony Harrison’s legendary mystery plays, using historical narratives to cast an allegorical perspective on current events and cultural conflicts.

James Baker (Parade; Jerry Springer: The Opera) directs this genderblind total-theatre production, incorporating live musicians, songs and audience members in a riotous and relevant retelling of a universal tale.

The Mysteries can be experienced individually or as a chronological trilogy.

Performed by third-year Acting students.

This amateur production is presented in arrangement with Faber & Faber Ltd, publishers of The Mysteries by Tony Harrison.
