The Mysteries: The Passion

05 December-07 December

Various

One man is elected, chosen; the Son of God. The people’s saviour and civilisation’s hope in hopeless times. In taking the role, Jesus must endure the agony of betrayal and injustice, fear, pain and, ultimately, death. This must be his sacrifice, for the people.

Earth-shattering and vital, part two of Tony Harrison’s legendary mystery plays examines humanity’s capacity for the inhumane and a primal desire to condemn, in this genderblind immersive production, incorporating live musicians, songs, image and light for an epic piece of storytelling.

The Mysteries can be experienced individually or as a chronological trilogy.

Performed by third-year Acting students.

This amateur production is presented in arrangement with Faber & Faber Ltd, publishers of The Mysteries by Tony Harrison.
