Unpacking by Mariana Pires

A work in progress piece about growing away from home and no longer fitting when returning. Through movement, storytelling and puppetry, it explores the strange, in-between space of discovering a new sense of belonging, embracing the growing pains and joys of change and self-discovery.

I am a Portuguese performer and theatre maker, passionate about innovative and experimental storytelling that deeply resonates with the audience. My work often delves into themes that affect my community and are close to my heart, such as cultural heritage, migration, freedom, identity and belonging. Currently based in the UK, I am a co-founder of Clementine Arts and an associate performer with Tmesis Theatre. I’m currently on tour with their most recent show, Sealskin.
