Theatre Safety - Unity Theatre

Updated January 2022:

All performances at Unity are scheduled to go ahead as planned this Jan & Feb. Our creative workshop, education and activity programmes will recommence from Thu 3 Feb due to staffing resource.

Following the implementation of Plan B from the Government, we’d like to remind all bookers of the current safety measures in place at Unity:

  • Masks are mandatory at Unity unless you are exempt. This includes all public areas, the auditorium and bar. You may remove your mask temporarily to eat or drink.
  • A COVID pass is not currently required to enter Unity, but we do recommend testing before you arrive for the safety of everybody.
  • Staff will be following COVID pass procedures and will need to show a negative test before arrival at work.
  • We will still be opening the auditorium 30 minutes before the show to maximise the space you can drink and socialise in pre-show
  • We will be reimplementing a delivery-only bar, meaning you can only order to a seat to avoid queues and congestion. You will be able to order from bar seats or your theatre seat by scanning the QR code or flagging down a member of staff.

As we reintroduce you to our building following our closure due to the coronavirus pandemic, we have put numerous safety measures in place to ensure your health is prioritised when using our spaces.

When you enter our building you will notice some changes. These include:

  • Hand sanitiser stations throughout the building
  • Queue distancing measures throughout the building clearly marked by signage
  • Reduced cash and paper transactions
  • Regular and enhanced cleaning before, during and after each event
  • A contactless refreshment service using mobile can be used in the bar and also to your theatre seat
  • Staff members wearing all necessary PPE
  • Staff will also be required to show a negative test before beginning their shift.

What we ask of you:

  • In light of changing guidance it is once again mandatory to wear a face covering within our venue, including theatre and public spaces, unless you are exempt or when eating and drinking. All staff will continue to wear a face covering, unless exempt. We thank you for your cooperation and consideration for the safety of all who visit.
  • If you are displaying any symptoms of COVID-19, notably a prolonged cough, high temperature or loss of taste and smell – please stay at home.
  • If a member of your party begins to display symptoms whilst in the building, please safely inform your assigned member of staff manager who will ensure you are looked after, isolated from other building users and safely able to get home. A deep clean will then be performed and staff working this shift will be isolated.
  • If a member of your party begins to show symptoms following the event, please inform the venue who will update the track and trace information to ensure all staff members who worked the shift are isolated.
  • Please show patience to those who are running your event as we work through these new measures together.

Access:

  • Access to the building will in no way be limited by these new measures. The main lift, wheelchair ramp and front entrance lift will all still be in use and included in the deep cleans.
  • All accessible toilets will be in use and cleaned every single day and throughout the visit.
  • Any PPE used will be suitable for those who require lip-reading. If you are struggling to still lip-read, please ask the member of staff to turn on their phone translation which will live caption what they are saying.

Tickets:

  • We are currently operating using e-tickets only.
  • You will receive your ticket as an attachment to your confirmation email. If you have any issues please email tickets@unitytheatre.co.uk
  • We have changed our refund policy. You are now entitled to a refund up to 2 hours before the show start time, if your cancellation is due to COVID.
  • We have reintroduced unreserved seating. This allows us to adapt to changing COVID regulations and ensure maximum safety for audience members. It also allows us to provide a tailored, safe experience for those who require specific seating or the use of a hearing aid loop, BSL interpreter or Audio Description service as the best seating for these facilities can change from show to show. Finally an unreserved auditorium allows us to offer a professional, digital version of the event through different camera positioning. This gives those unable to return to the theatre a high quality experience. Please be assured that audiences will not feature in these films.
  • Full ticket information can be found here.
