Theatre Safety - Unity Theatre

As of 1st April 2022:

As we have done throughout the pandemic, Unity will continue to prioritise staff, audience, and artists’ wellbeing, and ensure that everyone feels safe and comfortable when visiting. As a result, a lot of our current safety measures will remain in place.

Though government requirements no longer dictate the wearing of masks, we’d like to reassure visitors that Unity staff will continue to wear face coverings. Staff and artists working at the venue will also continue to test before arrival.

Below is a full list of what  you can expect during your visit:

  • Staff will continue to wear PPE and test before arriving for their shift.
  • We are encouraging visitors to continue to wear a mask when moving through busier public spaces, unless exempt.
  • A COVID pass is not currently required to enter Unity.
  • We will be opening the auditorium 30 minutes before the show to maximise the space you can drink and socialise in pre-show
  • You will be able to order a drink in person at the bar, but also via QR code from bar tables or your theatre seats.

As we reintroduce you to our building following our closure due to the coronavirus pandemic, we have put numerous safety measures in place to ensure your health is prioritised when using our spaces.

When you enter our building you will notice some changes. These include:

  • Hand sanitiser stations throughout the building
  • Reduced cash and paper transactions
  • Regular and enhanced cleaning before, during and after each event
  • A contactless refreshment service using mobile can be used in the bar and also to your theatre seat
  • Staff members wearing all necessary PPE
  • Staff will also be required to show a negative test twice a week

What we ask of you:

  • In light of changing guidance, we encourage you to wear a face covering when moving through the busier spaces of our venue. We thank you for your cooperation and consideration for the safety of all who visit.
  • If you are displaying any symptoms of COVID-19, notably a prolonged cough, high temperature or loss of taste and smell – please stay at home.
  • If a member of your party begins to display symptoms whilst in the building, please safely inform your assigned member of staff manager who will ensure you are looked after, isolated from other building users and safely able to get home. A deep clean will then be performed and staff working this shift will be isolated.
  • If a member of your party begins to show symptoms following the event, please inform the venue who will ensure all staff members who worked the shift are isolated.
  • Please show patience to those who are running your event as we work through these measures together.

Access:

  • Access to the building will in no way be limited by these new measures. The main lift, wheelchair ramp and front entrance lift will all still be in use and included in the deep cleans.
  • All accessible toilets will be in use and cleaned every single day and throughout the visit.
  • Any PPE used will be suitable for those who require lip-reading. If you are struggling to still lip-read, please ask the member of staff to turn on their phone translation which will live caption what they are saying.

Tickets:

  • We are currently operating using e-tickets only.
  • You will receive your ticket as an attachment to your confirmation email. If you have any issues please email tickets@unitytheatre.co.uk
  • We have reintroduced unreserved seating. This allows us to adapt to changing COVID regulations and ensure maximum safety for audience members. It also allows us to provide a tailored, safe experience for those who require specific seating or the use of a hearing aid loop, BSL interpreter or Audio Description service as the best seating for these facilities can change from show to show. Finally an unreserved auditorium allows us to offer a professional, digital version of the event through different camera positioning. This gives those unable to return to the theatre a high quality experience. Please be assured that audiences will not feature in these films.
  • Full ticket information can be found here.
