Horizon Film Festival 2026

Friday 10th — Saturday 11th April

Horizon Film Festival is an annual short film festival celebrating independent filmmaking across Liverpool and Merseyside.

Horizon was founded to give emerging filmmakers, particularly those with little to no budget or industry connections, a real platform to be seen and celebrated. Our goal is to help bridge the gap between grassroots filmmaking and the professional industry and create a pathway so that the next generation of talented Liverpool filmmakers might one day work alongside actors like yourself.

Horizon Film Festival showcases the work of Liverpool’s best and brightest upcoming filmmakers. We seek to give them the exposure, connections, and support they need to thrive in the industry. Attending the festival is your opportunity to watch groundbreaking short films, talk to their creators, and discover the bold visionaries who will shape the future of our industry. Join us in celebrating the art of film in the heart of Liverpool.

This year, the Festival returns to Liverpool’s Unity Theatre and for the first time will be held over the course of two days, the 10th and 11th of April. There will be two grand showcase events, the first on the evening of Friday 10th April, and the second on the evening of Saturday 11th April. Between the main showcase events there will be a series of workshops hosted by industry professionals, allowing attendees to develop and gain valuable skills and knowledge.
