Young Radicals

Thursday 4th — Saturday 6th June

6–6.30pm, 6.45–7.15pm  (& Sat matinee 1.15-1.45)

‘Please Make it Hopeful!’ is a passionate and fearless physical ensemble performance devised by young people who are taking the stage to expose the struggles of their times and ask the urgent questions of tomorrow.

The piece moves through a series of vivid snapshots of young people’s day to day lives as they try to build a future in the here and now. The piece holds up a mirror to the daily anxieties in a society that often feels fractured, individualistic, and devoid of empathy. It captures the heavy, suffocating sensation of a future that feels futile, before a collective breakthrough that defies despair, demonstrating their fierce belief that hope is a radical form of resistance.

Inspired by the legacy of Unity’s Merseyside Left Theatre, 19 young creatives have been working together over 10 weekly sessions to devise a piece that reflects their worries, vision, urgent matters of the present, and expectations for the future. The project has been facilitated and directed by Grace Gallagher and Mariana Pires.
